AC133 ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA FOR MECHANICAL CONNECTOR SYSTEMS FOR STEEL REINFORCING BARS Purpose: The purpose of this acceptance criteria is to establish requirements for mechanical connector systems for steel reinforcing bars to be recognized in an ICC Evaluation Service, LLC (ICC-ES), evaluation report under the 2012 and 2009 International Building Code® (IBC) and the 2012 and 2009 International Residential Code® (IRC). The bases of recognition are IBC Section 104.11 and IRC Section R104.11. The reason for development of this criteria is to establish guidelines for the evaluation of mechanical connector systems for steel reinforcing bars and to provide additional information to clarify the requirements of the IBC, and IRC, and documents referenced by those codes.
